Aaron I. Messing represents businesses in a wide variety of industries, ranging in size from startups and emerging growth companies to well-established companies with national and international operations. He has extensive experience providing general counsel services for companies from formation through exit, advising clients regarding sophisticated commercial transactions, as well as providing guidance in connection with privacy and data security compliance.

Aaron frequently advises clients regarding legal, business, and strategic decisions throughout their business life cycle, including corporate, business, and technology transactions, angel and venture financings, mergers and acquisitions, and protection of intellectual property. In addition to his corporate practice, Aaron advises ecommerce, technology, data analytics, advertising, FinTech and other companies on a wide range of U.S. and international privacy and data protection laws.

Prior to founding Messing, P.C., Aaron was a partner at a boutique full-service law firm that serviced clients ranging from startups to Fortune 50 companies. He also gained valuable experience and served as Chief Privacy Officer for Advanced Health Media, LLC, a multinational technology and service provider, and as Chief Privacy and Security Officer for Avatar Solutions LLC (acquired by Press Gainey), a leading enterprise health care consulting firm.

Aaron is a graduate of Binghamton University (BA cum laude, MA magna cum laude) and graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law.

Aaron has been recognized as a New York Metro “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers from 2016-2022, and a New Jersey “Rising Star” from 2017-2021. He is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (Certified Information Privacy Professional/US).

Alessandra Carcaterra Messing focuses her practice in the areas of dispute resolution, complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, and counseling businesses focused on technology and innovation. Her experience with high-tech disputes as a patent litigator helps clients achieve their business and strategic goals in an effective, efficient, and practical manner.


Alessandra has represented a diverse base of clients in federal courts throughout the country, as well as the International Trade Commission. Over the course of her career, Alessandra has handled all aspects of alternative dispute resolution and litigation from initial counseling and pre-suit investigations to post-trial proceedings, appeals, and settlement. Alessandra has taken part in the successful resolution of claims worth tens of millions of dollars on behalf of her clients against the biggest tech companies represented by the biggest firms in the U.S. Alessandra leverages her experience with complex technologies and economic analyses to provide her clients with creative solutions in ground-breaking industries such as cannabis, e-commerce, diversity & inclusion, and digital assets.

Prior to joining Messing Law, Alessandra focused on intellectual property litigation at Am Law 200 firms that represent clients around the globe in complex business transactions and high-stakes litigation. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in Intellectual Property Litigation each year since 2017.

Alessandra holds a B.S. in Biochemistry, magna cum laude, from Northeastern University and has experience representing clients in a wide range of industries and technologies, including AI, mechanical and consumer products, smartphone hardware and software, power tools, manufacturing, optics, automotive parts and systems, apparel and footwear, wireless communications, smart speakers, IoT, LED displays, digital signal processing, networking, semiconductors, personal care, and pharmaceuticals.

Alessandra is devoted to pro bono work and has provided legal services to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, KIND (Kids in Need of Defense), Lawyers for Good Government, and We The Action. Alessandra has been deeply committed to improving diversity and inclusivity in her academic and professional institutions for over 15 years. Parenthood has deepened her commitment to social justice and to utilizing her position of privilege to address systemic inequities within the legal profession and society at large. Ale provides legal expertise and practical perspectives to her clients, representing businesses of all sizes in connection with complex contractual and intellectual property disputes in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels, as well as in various dispute resolution forums. Ale is also a member of the firm’s corporate and transactional practice, where she uses her litigation experience to structure and negotiate complex agreements with a litigator’s eye towards avoiding and preemptively resolving disputes.

Over the course of her career, Ale has represented and continues to represent sophisticated clients ranging from closely held startups to public multinational entities in a variety of industries, including ecommerce, fintech, software and complex technologies, consumer goods, health and wellness, hospitality, and real estate. She takes an efficient, personable, and reliable approach to representing her clients and achieving their desired goals.

Prior to joining Messing Law, Ale practiced at a renowned global law firm and a premier mid-size, business-focused law firm. She holds a B.A. in English, cum laude, from Boston College and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.

Richard J. Colosimo focuses his practice on board-level governance of growing companies by advising CEOs, boards, founders, and investors in all aspects of strategic financial transactions. Rick gained experience in a range of corporate transactions (M&A, investments, and debt and equity transactions) and in structuring new businesses for start-up founders positioning themselves to raise capital.

Rick has combined front-line business roles in expanding businesses with specialty legal knowledge management projects with interim general counsel and CAO roles with independent director board positions. These unusual business experiences create a solid business foundation in finance and operations for Rick’s advice, no matter what the topic.

Rick has a wide array of legal experience on which to build: he has practiced in tri-state corporate boutiques; he practiced in both New York City and in Silicon Valley at large national law firms. He has been involved in thousands of negotiations across a wide variety of scenarios. In New York City, Rick practiced at Holland & Knight LLP, litigating mass torts involving pesticides, asbestos, and the crash of TWA Flight 800. He then practiced corporate and securities law at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP, in the Palo Alto, CA, office, where his practice included venture financing and mergers and acquisitions for start-ups, venture capital funds, E*Trade, and Cisco Systems.

Rick is a graduate of the Cornell Law School. Before law school, Rick was an Infantry officer in the U.S. Army stationed in Hawaii and Georgia. He is a graduate of the Officer Candidate, Airborne, and Ranger Schools. He has a BA in English from Allegheny College where he served on the Alumni Council for six years.
